About Virtual Vehicle
Virtual Vehicle is a leading international R&D center for the automotive and rail industries. The center focuses on the advanced virtualization of vehicle development. An essential element is the linking of numerical simulations and hardware testing leads to a comprehensive hardware–software system design. More than 250 experts are employed at the location in Graz/Austria.
VIRTUAL VEHICLE addresses “smart mobility” and especially the vehicles of tomorrow, which should be safe, environmentally-friendly and affordable. Hence, cutting-edge research and technology development is essential, and simulation is a key for opening new possibilities. VIRTUAL VEHICLE provides a close linkage of numerical simulation and experimental validation and offers comprehensive system simulation up to the complete vehicle.
VIRTUAL VEHICLE is the holding company of the research program “K2-Digital Mobility – Enabling Future Vehicle Technologies”. Currently, VIRTUAL VEHICLE is active in more than 20 EU projects, leading several of them. VIRTUAL VEHICLE is working in close collaboration with over 80 industrial partners and more than 40 international university research institutes.
Main role in the project
Within the project VIRTUAL VEHICLE is responsible of the definition and description of a final HEADSTART procedure as well as the specification and coupling of relevant tools to a usable toolchain for testing, validation and certification of Connected Automated Driving-functions. In addition, VIRTUAL VEHICLE is contributing to the assessment criteria for Connected Automated Driving functionalities and cyber-security on vehicle level.
